HELSINKI DW

5-14 September 2025

Helsinki Design Week (HDW) 2025 will take place at Suomitalo, next to the Old Church Park in central Helsinki. The program includes exhibitions, talks, product launches, workshops, and evening events for both professionals and the public. Beyond the main venue, nearly 100 design-related events will unfold across the Helsinki metropolitan area.

Main Exhibition: Designing Happiness

Curated by Anniina Koivu, the international exhibition Designing Happiness explores whether happiness can be designed. Drawing from the “happiness cocktail” of dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and endorphins, the show features works by renowned designers such as Eero Aarnio, Erwan Bouroullec, Oiva Toikka, and Clara von Zweigbergk. Exhibition architecture is by XPO (Camille Blin, Anthony Guex, Christian Spiess), with graphic design by Robbie Mahoney.

A symposium of the same name will be held on Thursday, 11 September, in collaboration with the City of Helsinki, which will also present the Helsinki Design Award during the festival.

Theme 2025: Celebration

The theme for HDW 2025 is Celebration—a time to reflect, honor achievements, and look to the future. At Suomitalo, design brands and creatives, including Artek and SAAS Instruments, will interpret this theme through immersive spatial installations on the building’s fourth floor.
